Apex Legends Playerbase backlash- Respawn Entertainment is changing how legendary skins for the Apex Legends Iron Crown limited-time event can be earned, after a massive outcry from players who say the current system is too punishing. Apex Legends began its latest limited-time event, the Iron Crown, earlier this week. Along with the highly anticipated Solo mode, Iron Crown added a bunch of new legendary skins for each of its heroes. Unfortunately, the only way players can earn these skins are from loot boxes players had to purchase for 700 Apex Coins, or about $7 USD.

The Expense and why the Apex Legends Playerbase Backlash

This made earning the new legendary skins particularly difficult and expensive. After days of heated discussion, Respawn has acknowledged there were some mistakes when the legendary Iron Crown skins were rolled out.

“With the Iron Crown event, we missed the mark when we broke our promise by making Apex Packs the only way to get what many consider to be the coolest skins we’ve released,” Apex Legends project lead Drew McCoy wrote in a new blog post.

How can it be fixed?

To fix this, legendary skins will no longer be solely available in randomized Apex Packs. Starting on August 20, Respawn will start selling the skins directly through the in-game store on a rotating basis. You can find a chart for the specific dates each legendary Iron Crown skins will go on sale, below.

The legendary Iron Crown skins will go on sale for 1,800 Apex Coins, or about $18 USD. So that’s still quite expensive, especially if you’re looking to collect every legendary skin. But at least now you won’t be leaving the loot to unlock to chance.

“This week has been a huge learning experience for us and we’re taking the lessons forward to continue bringing the best possible experience to all of you,” McCoy concludes. Respawn says it’s committed to improving communications with players for how rewards will work in future seasons.

Let’s hope for more of these positive changes going forward and we have no more Apex Legends playerbase backlash!
